Friends and Relatives,
Today we offer a short update, an invitation, and a summary of this last week:
Amidst the government’s use of fear, love and joy wash over the city alongside failed attempts at hate in Minneapolis yesterday, January 17. Over 600 people gathering to sing in South Minneapolis, and hundreds gathering in creative joy in Powderhorn Park, wafted through the streets, weaving with the chants of counter protesters drowning out any felt presence of the March held by conservative influencer and Jan 6th disrupter, Jake Lang.
Join us on zoom today at 3:30PT/6:30ET in prayer and grounding. We will sing together, hear updates from the ground, join in collective prayer, and receive calls to action to support impacted communities and begin organizing your own hyper-local community networks.
We would also like to share this invitation to an information session tomorrow (Jan 19) for folks who feel called to Minnesota in this moment. It will be offered twice: at 12pm and 7pm CT. Register HERE
This past week we shared updates from organizers on the ground:
On Tuesday we shared stories of the violence ICE has been perpetrating against our Minneapolis kin, kidnapping people off the street or from their homes and targeting protestors.
On Wednesday and Thursday we shared about ICE’s racial profiling tactics, and the violence of ICE’s detention center being located at Fort Snelling – the place of origin for Dakota people.
On Friday we called folks to prayer in preparation for the march organized by conservative influencer Jake Leng. And on Saturday we shared about the beautiful response of counter protestors who met hate with songs of hope.
Stay connected as we continue to share updates here on our blog, on our Facebook page and Instagram
