Support and Pray for Minneapolis

On Wednesday, January 7, 2026, a federal ICE agent, under the authority of this country’s “justice” system, shot and killed Renee Nicole Good, a wife, mother, and U.S. citizen, for failure to comply with orders. Almost five and a half years earlier, just blocks away in the same city, a law enforcement officer took the life of George Perry Floyd, a father and grandfather, for failure to comply with orders. We honor these lives lost in Minneapolis, and so many more lives lost in ICE and police custody who haven’t made national and international news, and we pray for and grieve alongside their loved ones.

Why is it that our so-called “justice” system permits the taking of human life by those in power without recourse? Because our system of “justice” is part of a system of laws and policies in this country built on the Doctrine of Discovery — which maintains that some lives are inherently more valuable than others and that any degree of force may be exercised to ensure the power and privilege of those lives deemed valuable. Our systems of “justice” are doing exactly what they are designed to do. The forced removal of our immigrant neighbors by ICE is the same pattern of violence and domination as the forced removal of Indigenous Peoples.

Friends, this moment, this escalation in violence, reminds us that it will be up to us, all of us, regular people in many places, to embody love and courage and resist the rising authoritarianism in our own communities. Neighbors in Minneapolis, and in other communities terrorized by ICE before that, are living out the values of interdependence and love of neighbor by caring for each other, checking in and watching out for those most impacted and vulnerable.

We don’t know what all is to come in 2026. But believe that you will need your neighbors, your community, and that they will need you too. Believe that our only security is in each other, our relationships, our care in showing up for each other.

Please pray for the communities in Minnesota amidst ongoing ICE occupation and targeting from the Trump administration. It is time to step up for impacted communities, and we need your help.

If you don’t know where else to direct funds, our team on the ground is organizing to assist with material support and rapid response in Minneapolis, and we can direct your resources towards those most impacted. We will continue to share updates as the situation evolves.

Note: please mark your donation with “Minneapolis.”
